3 motorcycle riders perish in Cavite, Rizal, Batangas road accidents
LUCENA CITY – Three motorcycle riders died in separate road accidents on Saturday and Sunday in Cavite, Rizal and Batangas.
A report from the Noveleta, Cavite police said Wilson Hernandez was traveling on his motorcycle along EPZA bypass road in Barangay (village) Sta. Rosa 2 at around 1 a.m. Sunday when he was hit by a van driven by Marvin Basallote.
Hernandez died while being taken to Divine Grace Hospital in neighboring General Trias City.
The police report said the van occupied the opposite lane which led to the collision.
Basallote is under police custody.
Article continues after this advertisementIn Antipolo City, Rizal, police reported that motorcyclist Sherwin Militante was accidentally hit by cargo truck driven by Alfredo Almamento along Ortigas Avenue extension in Barangay San Roque at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
Article continues after this advertisementMilitante sustained seerious injuries and expired on the way to Rizal Provincial Hospital.
The report said the motorcycle suddenly swerved to the opposite lane which caused the accident.
Almamento was taken into custody by the police.
Another motorcycle rider, Mennen Orias, lost control of his vehicle while traveling the national road in San Isidro in Batangas City at around 9:40 p.m. Saturday.
The motorcycle skidded on the opposite lane. Orias fell off his motorcycle and was ran over by an oncoming truck driven by Benjamin Espanto.
Orias died on the spot, police said.
