TUGUEGARAO CITY — Mayor Maila Ting-Que suspended classes in this city from Thursday to Friday (Nov. 3 to 4) as the city still reels from widespread flooding due to recent storms.
In an interview Tuesday, Ting-Que said the class suspension covered all levels in both public and private schools.
The mayor said residents have begun to clean their mud-filled houses in the wake of the flooding.
But she said floodwater in some areas had yet to subside.
In nearby Isabela province, floods have receded in most areas, but 991 families, or 3,373, remained in evacuation centers in Ilagan City.
Rains spawned by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng (international name Nalgae) triggered floods that affected 6,047 families (20,853 people) in Ilagan alone, according to Paul Bacungan, city information officer. INQ
