CEBU CITY–A passenger vessel ran aground at the Jagna Port in Bohol after it was dragged by strong winds and waves on Friday night, the Philippine Coast Guard – Central Visayas reported.
PCG-7 spokesperson Ensign Jordz Emata, said no injuries were reported among the 23 crew members of the MV Lite Ferry 1.
He said the ship was maneuvering near the port for anchorage when it was dragged by strong waves at 11:48 p.m.
Emata said the Coast Guard Station – Eastern Bohol was currently monitoring the ship which slightly tilted to its side.
No oil spill was reported as the vessel was expected to be extracted once the weather improves.
Bohol was placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1 as Severe Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae) whipped parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
