MANILA, Philippines – No signs of external physical injuries were detected on the remains of the alleged middleman in the plot to kill broadcaster Percival “Percy Lapid” Mabasa, based on the autopsy conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation.
Jun Globa Villamor was declared dead at the New Bilibid Prison facility, shortly after the confessed gunman, Joel Escorial surrendered to police and faced the media.
“There were no apparent signs of external physical injury,” said the NBI’s autopsy report.
“The heart showed a hemorrhagic area over the left ventricle,” the NBI report added.
The agency said that this indicated a previous illness or valvular infection.
The NBI said that Villamor was brought to the New Bilibid Prison Hospital and declared dead at 2:05 p.m. on October 18 after the attending physician tried to revive him for 35 minutes.
The body was received and embalmed by a mortician at the Eastern Funeral Homes on the same day.
The NBI said that the declaration of death was consistent with Villamor’s official time of death.
