Alleged NPA recruiter surrenders in Quezon

LUCENA CITY — An alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebel in Quezon province who was tasked with recruiting new guerrillas surrendered to authorities in San Andres town on Wednesday (Oct. 19) night.
According to the police, Roldan Tayactac, accompanied by a barangay official, surrendered to Mayor Ralph Edward Lim, police and military at around 7:30 p.m.
The rebel returnee gave up his caliber .38 revolver loaded with four bullets
Tayactac was identified as an alleged NPA recruiter in the towns of San Narciso, San Andres, San Francisco, and Mulanay in the province’s Bondoc Peninsula district.
According to police and military records, the veteran former Red fighter joined the NPA in 2016.
He is currently undergoing “custodial debriefing.”
The local government is preparing the necessary assistance to the former rebel in his reintegration protocols under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip).
A rebel returnee can receive cash aid and other benefits to help them and their families to start new lives.
