COTABATO CITY — Police in Marawi City arrested a businessman for possessing unlicensed firearms in a raid before daybreak on Tuesday.

Businessman Mahid Dipatuan, 35, of Barangay Bangco, Marawi, did not resist arrest when law enforcers served a warrant in his home, said Colonel Jibin Bongcayao, Lanao del Sur police director.

Bongcayao said Judge Alberto Quinto of Regional Trial Court Branch 12 issued the warrant for illegal possession of firearms.

Bongcayao said the police recovered from Dipatuan’s house a caliber .380 pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun, and several pieces of ammunition for an Armalite rifle.

Dipatuan was detained at the Marawi police station. Charges would be filed today at the city prosecutors office, added Bongcayao.
