DILG warns of fake guidelines on cockfights
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) warns the public about a fake memorandum circular on guidelines for the conduct of traditional cockfights, called “sabong” in Filipino.
Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos on Friday said the fake memorandum was unnumbered and unsigned and claimed to be “Guidelines on the Modernization of Cockpit Operations or Cockfighting in all Local Government Units in the Philippines.”
The DILG said copies of DILG issuances may be accessed at its website (www.dilg.gov.ph) while official statements, reports, and updates are posted on the department’s social media pages.
