MANILA, Philippines — A construction site inside the Philippine Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City allegedly being used by workers as their drug den was busted by agents of the Philippine Army and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Army said in a report Tuesday.
Seized during the operation were shabu worth P88,000. Also arrested were 13 suspects. Those arrested are all construction workers, the Army said.
According to the Army, operatives raided the workers’ drug den following month-long surveillance.
“The arrested construction worker states that he and his fellow suspects pool their meager daily income to buy shabu to keep them alert and active while at work,” the Army said in a statement.
Authorities did not identify the suspects. They will be facing complaints for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — Irish Perez, INQUIRER.net trainee
