14,333 COVID-19 cases recorded from Oct. 3 to 9 — DOH

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 14,333 COVID-19 cases were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) from October 3 to October 9, lower than the infections recorded the week before.

According to the department’s latest weekly report, this translated to a daily average of 2,048 — 10 percent lower than the week before at 2,288 from September 26 to October 2, when DOH registered a total of 16,071 infections.

Meanwhile, five patients, or 0.04 percent of the total cases, were tagged as severe or critical, bringing the active number of severe or critical cases to 669.

An additional 256 deaths were added to the country’s COVID-19 death toll — 29 of which occurred from September 26 to October 9, while the rest were backlogs recorded as early as August 2021 until the rest of September 2022.

Despite the decrease in cases recorded, non-ICU-bed utilization slightly increased from 26.2 to 27.2 percent. ICU-utilization rate, on the other hand, stayed at 24.3 percent.

Meanwhile, regarding the progress in vaccination efforts, fully-vaccinated individuals slightly increased to 73,312,416 (93.87 percent of the target population) after 130,969 additional individuals were vaccinated in the past week.

On the other hand, individuals with booster shots now total 20,133,198 after 373,675 additional individuals were inoculated in the same period.
