2 NPA rebels surrender in Sorsogon

LEGAZPI CITY — Two members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the Philippine Army in Sorsogon on Friday, the military said in a statement on Saturday.

Major John Paul Belleza, the Army’s 9th Infantry Division public affairs office chief, said the rebels, identified only as “Abel” and “Randy,” also surrendered an AR15 rifle at the 9th Civil Military Operations Battalion of the 903rd Infantry Brigade.

Belleza said the NPA rebels were operating in Sorsogon, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes.

Around 77 rebels have surrendered to government forces in Bicol this year, Belleza added.
