3 dead as car plunges into river in Isabela province
RAMON, Isabela — The bodies of three people were recovered on Thursday, Oct. 6, after their car fell into the Magat River in Barangay Ambatali in this town, police said.
Investigators identified the fatalities as car driver Ruel Galut; his niece, 14-year-old Zaira Jannine Galut Boadilla; and his brother-in-law Boy Boadilla, all of Barangay Pinto in nearby Alfonso Lista town, Ifugao province.
The three were on their way home before midnight on Wednesday after bringing a relative to a hospital in Santiago City when the driver overshot the road, causing the car to hit a concrete barrier before plunging into the river.
Rescuers recovered the victims’ bodies after a thorough search at dawn the next day.
Villager Jiji Antalan told the Inquirer that she heard a loud thud near her house, prompting her to go out.
