Trader dies, 9 hurt in Isabela road mishap
CAUAYAN CITY—A 47-year-old trader died while nine people were injured when two vehicles collided at dawn on Friday (December 28) at the national highway in Tagaran village here.
A Toyota Hi-Ace Grandia van swerved to avoid a section of the road that was under construction but crashed into an Isuzu Mu-X sports utility vehicle, killing the SUV passenger identified as Cornelio Abu.
The accident also hurt the other SUV passengers who are all surnamed Abu — driver Gilbert, 39; Franz, 17, and Sean Kenneth, 19, all of Tuguegarao City.
The crash also hurt the van’s driver identified as Alberto Villanueva, 30, and his passengers — Manuel Abac, 30; Jonel Barayuga, 19; Jordan Barayuga, 16; Angelica Jane Eduzma, 15; and Princess Joy Barayuga, 15, according to Senior Inspector Frances Littaua, Isabela police spokesperson.
The victims of the road accident are all being treated at the Isabela United Doctors Medical Center in this city. /jpv
