MANILA, Philippines — A canine inspector found contraband containing suspected crystal meth or shabu from Korean and American nationals, the Southern Police District (SPD) said on Wednesday.
The SPD said suspects identified as Robert Boling Jr., a 41-year-old American; and Kwon Hyeok Soo, a 41-year-old Korean, attempted to bring the contraband inside the Bureau of Immigration warden’s facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City on Tuesday night.
“The acting warden informed his team leader about the contrabands being delivered by a group of Koreans which is often delivered in unusual times,” the SPD said in a statement.
“The team leader then advised the K9 handler to inspect the items they are delivering, the canine sits in response which means there are drugs present in the said items,” they further said.
The canine then conducted an inspection which led to the eventual recovery of a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu weighing 30 grams with an estimated value of ₱204,000.
Suspects are currently detained in the same area, while the recovered pieces of evidence were turned over to SPD forensic unit for chemical analysis.
