Ilocos region logs 299 new COVID-19 cases in 1 week

In the Ilocos region, 299 new COVID-19 cases were reported between September 25 and October 1, according to the DOH.

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — The Department of Health (DOH) in the Ilocos region reported 299 new COVID-19 cases between September 25 and October 1.

The new cases represented a daily average of 43 or 19.6 percent more than the cases reported the previous week, according to regional DOH data.

Of the new cases, at least three were tagged as severe and critical.

The DOH also confirmed five deaths relating to the virus in the past week.

As of September 25, the healthcare utilization rate in the region remained at a “safe” level, with 44 of the 206 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients occupied.

At least 241 of the 1,379 non-ICU beds were occupied, the DOH added. INQ
