Typhoon Karding exits PAR

PAGASA satellite map. STORY: Typhoon Karding exits PAR

MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru) has left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Monday night.

“Typhoon Karding left the PAR region at 8:00 p.m. today. Karding will continue moving its westward track towards Vietnam,” Pagasa said in its latest typhoon bulletin.

Meanwhile, as of 10:00 p.m, Karding was last located 585 kilometers west of Dagupan City, Pangasinan outside PAR carrying maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 170 kph as it moved westward at 20kph.

“This tropical cyclone will further intensify throughout the forecast period,” said Pagasa.

Despite finally exiting PAR, Pagasa warned that occasional monsoon rains may still occur in the next 24 hours over the western section of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and the Visayas.

Meanwhile, occasional gusts reaching a strong breeze to near gale strength are also still possible until Tuesday evening over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas due to the southwest monsoon being strengthened by Karding.
