LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Ilocos said at least P8 million could be tapped from its quick response fund to help those affected by Typhoon “Karding” (international name: Noru) in the region.
This fund could be used for the agency’s relief and rehabilitation operations during disasters and calamities.
Karding, which lashed the provinces of Luzon on Sunday (Sept. 25), displaced at least 428 families in Pangasinan and La Union, according to the agency’s latest situational report.
DSWD said they had prepositioned 29,228 family food packs and 12,663 non-food items in their 13 regional and satellite warehouses in the region as a relief to Ilocos residents affected by the onslaught of Karding. INQ
