Soldier hurt in encounter with alleged NPA members in Northern Samar town

In a Northern Samar town, a soldier was wounded in an encounter with alleged members of the NPA.

TACLOBAN CITY — A soldier was wounded in an encounter with alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Victoria town, Northern Samar on Monday.

Corporal Loreto Cachola Jr. was hit in his neck during the firefight in Barangay Luisita at around 8 a.m.

Cachola was immediately brought to a hospital for treatment.

The soldiers were in the area as part of their security operations when they chanced upon a group of armed men.

The encounter led to a firefight that lasted for over 10 minutes.

The armed group was reportedly members of the front committee-2 of the sub-regional committee emporium of the communist armed group operating in Northern Samar.
