LIGAO CITY — Trips in various seaports in the Bicol region resumed on Monday, Sept. 26, as Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru) weakened.
Gremil Alexis Naz, spokesperson for the Office of Civil Defense in Bicol, said trips resumed at 5 a.m., allowing 2,049 stranded passengers to sail to their destinations.
On Sunday night, the suspension of trips stranded 137 passengers in Albay province; 97 in Camarines Norte; 47 in Camarines Sur; 20 in Catanduanes; 22 in Masbate; and 1,621 in Sorsogon.
Seventeen rolling cargoes, 13 sea vessels, and four motorized bancas were also stranded in Bicol ports due to the rough seas.
Disaster officials were still validating reports that six fishermen from Mercedes town in Camarines Norte province were missing at the height of the typhoon. INQ
