A 14-year-old male died after six fellow minors stabbed him in Quezon City.

MANILA, Philippines — Detainees in the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory (QCJMD) can now continue their basic education through senior high school.

The Quezon City government last week signed a memorandum of understanding with the QCJMD, Special DO and the Fernando C. Amorsolo Senior High School, which allows inmates to enroll in senior high school programs.

Upon completion, persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) are given a National Certificate Level II once they pass an assessment by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

The local government is encouraging technical, vocational and livelihood training as a transformative measure for inmates toward becoming productive citizens, Mayor Joy Belmonte said. —ABBY BOISER
