Two earthquakes hit Davao Occidental

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.1 earthquake hit Davao Occidental on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), which was followed by a magnitude 4.3 earthquake in the same area.

Phivolcs detected the magnitude 4.1 quake at 1:49 a.m. and located its epicenter 238 kilometers southeast of Balut Island, Municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.

The tectonic earthquake’s depth of focus was 121 kilometers.

The following magnitude 4.3 earthquake was detected at 7:34 a.m. with its epicenter located 341 kilometers southeast of Balut Island as well. The second tectonic earthquake had a depth of focus of one kilometer.

Phivolcs reported no intensities for either earthquake.

No aftershocks and damages are expected, Phivolcs said.
