MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — A former New People’s Army member surrendered and turned over a firearm to authorities in Tarlac, the provincial police disclosed Monday, Sept. 19.

The former rebel is a 57-year-old woman from San Jose town, a statement from Lieutenant Colonel Dennis Wenceslao, force commander of the Tarlac police’s Provincial Mobile Force Company, said.

The former rebel surrendered and turned over a homemade shotgun with three live shells to the police and the 790th Air Force Group, Wenceslao said.

She allegedly was a former “red fighter” of the KLG2 Tarlac-Zambales under the Ka Libay Command.

The national government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, provides former rebels immediate cash assistance, reintegration assistance, remuneration for the turned-over firearm and ammunition, and livelihood, legal, medical, educational, and housing assistance. INQ
