COVID-19 positivity rates up in 6 areas in Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Six areas in Luzon have seen an increased COVID-19 positivity rate, independent analytics group Octa Research reported on Monday.

In a Twitter post, Octa Research fellow Guido David said that the positivity rates in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Pangasinan, and Rizal swelled in a one-week period or from September 10 to 17.

The following are the positivity rates of these areas:

National Capital Region – 13.3 percent to 15.6 percent

Bulacan – 11.5 percent to 16.1 percent

Cavite – 13.9 percent to 16.6 percent

Laguna – 9.8 percent to 10.7 percent

Pangasinan – 6.9 percent to 8 percent

Rizal – 17.4 percent to 18.7 percent

Meanwhile, the positivity rates of other provinces in Luzon have decreased.

Tarlac has the highest positivity rate at 33.2 percent, while Zambales has the lowest at 4.4 percent.

Only Zambales’ positivity rate is considered “low” in Luzon.

The recommended COVID-19 positivity rate threshold of the World Health Organization is five percent.
