Over P6-M worth of marijuana seized in Caloocan buy-bust ops
MANILA, Philippines — Over P6.2 million worth of suspected dried marijuana leaves were seized during a buy-bust operation in Caloocan City, the Northern Police District (NPD) said on Monday.
According to the NPD, at least 52,000 grams of marijuana leaves were seized from a suspect identified as Jenny Roy Dayrit, 24, a resident of Tondo, Manila.
The NPD said that operatives of the Caloocan City Police Station conducted the buy-bust operation last Friday in a building in Barangay 18 of Caloocan.
Aside from the 52,000 grams of dried leaves worth P6.240 million packed in 52 bricks, police recovered a P1,000 bill and the P8,000 marked money used by undercover cops to buy the illegal drugs.
The NPD said that Dayrit will now face complaints for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Article II under Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. With reports from Lyka Farillon, INQUIRER.net trainee
