LUCENA CITY – Three people were injured after old firecrackers stored inside their house accidentally exploded in Imus City in Cavite province on Friday, September 9.
The Police Regional Office 4A reported Saturday, September 10, that Marylyne, 56; Alaisa Marie, 29; and Jay Arvin, 25, all surnamed Ochoa, sustained injuries from the blast and were rushed to the hospital. The personal relationships among the victims were not specified in the report.
The police said the blast occurred at the house of the victims located in Holiday Village in Barangay (village) Luma 4 around 7:30 a.m.
The strong explosion also caused damage to at least six parked vehicles and several houses in the immediate vicinity.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Jose Alamo, Imus City police chief, in a television interview, said the victims stored the firecrackers and planned to sell them in the coming holiday season.
The police are conducting further investigation while the corresponding criminal charges are being prepared against the blast victims for keeping explosive materials in a residential area and causing damage to property.
