13 families lose homes in Catbalogan fire

ORMOC CITY — At least 13 families lost their homes and other properties to a fire in Barangay San Pedro, Catbalogan City, Samar on Thursday, September 8.
SFO1 Glady Barral, fire and arson investigator, said the fire started at the house of Evelyn Artates, which was a combination of light and concrete materials.

She said the fire quickly spread to the neighboring houses which were mostly made of light materials.

Barral said the fire was controlled at about 11:45 a.m. and was put out at about 12:10 noon.
No casualties were reported.
Investigators have yet to identify the cause of the fire, but the damage reached around P1,095,000.
