SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday (Aug. 31) prepared 450 family food packs worth P361,642 in anticipation of the impact of Tropical Depression “Gardo” and Super Typhoon Hinnamnor (Henry) in this province
According to the agency, the food packs will be distributed to residents in Subic town, which is expected to experience rain-induced flooding once the two weather systems affect the country.
The DSWD said 500 more family food packs and 50 family kits worth P349,100 were also prepared for residents of Aliaga town in Nueva Ecija province.
Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen, acting director of the Police Regional Office 3, said their regional workforce was already on standby in anticipation of the onslaught of Gardo and Henry.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, Super Typhoon Henry entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 5: 30 p.m. on Wednesday.
It was spotted 870 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 240 kph. INQ
