At last, women’s desks in Cebu police stations now handled by policewomen
THE women’s desk in all police stations in Cebu are now headed by policewomen.
Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said this development was relayed to her by Cebu provincial police director Patrocinio Commendador Jr. in last Monday’s awarding of four policewomen.
Magpale, chairperson of the committee on women and children in the Provincial Board, was the guest of honor during the event, which was part of the activities of the women’s month.
Magpale said she has been monitoring the assigning of policewomen on women’s desk following a rape case in Malapascua Island in Daanbantayan town where the victim, a British national, was interviewed by a policeman at the women’s desk.
Magpale said having policewomen assigned there is a positive move for for women and children in the province.
She said policewomen could communicate better with rape victims.
