MANILA, Philippines —The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday assured the public that the recent cases of kidnapped women were unconnected, as no pattern linking the crimes has been found by the police.

PNP spokesperson PCol. In a public briefing, Jean Fajardo explained that the suspects arrested in the said cases had different motives.

(Right now, based on the recorded cases, in Bulacan, Palawan, and Calabarzon, we don’t see any pattern that we can say that we have so-called serial rapists.)

(Because the arrested suspects involved in these cases have their own motives for why they did these crimes, they are not connected.)

PNP promises to increase police visibility

Meanwhile, Fajardo added that as ordered by PNP chief PGen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., more police officers will be deployed to conduct patrols in crime-prone areas and around schools amid the start of in-person classes.

(The chief of police has given orders to PNP personnel to increase our patrolling, especially in crime-prone areas and around the schools where in-person classes have started.)

Fajardo said the PNP will maintain the number of police officers it had deployed for the start of classes which was around 25,000, “to ensure that it will be safe.”

(The police will be doubled in the barangay, even the admin personnel who render desk duty will also be given duty to patrol with the patrollers on our main roads.)

Fajardo then reminded the public that the PNP had already solved most of the reported cases of kidnapping and disappearances.

Just recently, the suspect behind the rape-slay of a 15-year-old female biker in San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan was arrested by the police in Camarines Sur on August 18.
