Pre-school, elementary classes suspended in Cagayan as TD Florita looms

TUGUEGARAO CITY- Pre-school and elementary classes were suspended in Cagayan on Monday due to the threat of tropical depression Florita.

Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba ordered the province-wide class suspension in anticipation of the onslaught of Florita, which was estimated to be 310 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora  as of 5 a.m. on Monday.

Mamba also ordered a liquor ban and likewise suspended sailing and fishing activities.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration on Monday morning reported that “Florita” was moving west southwest at 20 kilometers per hour  per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 were Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and the northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao.
