MANILA, Philippines — Some 46 percent of public and private schools nationwide will implement full face-to-face classes starting August 22, Monday, the Department of Education said on Friday.
DepEd spokesperson Michael Wesley Poa said a total of 24,175 schools nationwide will implement five-day face-to-face classes.
However, the majority of schools nationwide will begin the school year with blended learning modality at 51.8 percent or 29,721 schools.
“Doon sa magi-implement ng five-day in-person classes, mayroon po tayong 24,175 schools. That is 46 percent of our schools nationwide,” Poa said in a press briefing.
“Doon naman po sa blended learning modality, but I have to remind you, yung blended modality po natin eh may in-person aspect person din po siya of three days initially and four days thereafter, meron po tayong 29,721 schools nationwide na mage-blended learning, yan po ay 51.8 percent,” he added.
Only 1.29 percent or 1,004 schools will begin the school year with distance learning, according to Poa.
When the classes open on August 22, schools still have the option to hold remote classes, blended learning mode, or in-person classes.
However, all public and private schools must conduct in-person classes by November 2, as per DepEd Order No. 34.
Meanwhile, Poa said more than 27 million students have enrolled for the upcoming school year.
