Bongbong Marcos receives second booster shot vs COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. received his second booster dose on Wednesday as he urged Filipinos to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Marcos was vaccinated during the PinasLakas vaccination campaign in Manila. Department of Health (DOH) officer-in-charge Ma. Rosario Vergeire administered Marcos’ second booster shot.
The President’s son, Sandro, also received his booster shot from Manila Mayor Honey Lacuña-Pangan. Sandro currently serves as representative of the first district of Ilocos Norte.
Both the President and his son received the Pfizer booster shots.
Article continues after this advertisementIn his speech, Marcos said he attended the event to encourage the public to also take their booster shot, stressing its importance in fighting new COVID-19 variants.
Article continues after this advertisement“Lalong lalo na dahan-dahang pabubukas ng ekonomiya, ayaw nating maglockdown, gusto natin matanggal na yung mask na protocol, lahat yan di natin maaabot kung hindi tayo magpa-booster shot ngayon,” Marcos said in his speech at the event.
(We are slowly opening our economy and want to remove the mask protocols. We also do not want to impose lockdowns. But we cannot do all these if we will not take our booster shots.)
“Para maging safe tayo, ay kailangan talaga, we have to encourage everyone to have a booster shot para masasabi nating fully immunized,” the President added.
(We really have to encourage everyone to have a booster shot so we can say that we are fully immunized and safe.)
Marcos has contracted COVID-19 twice. First was in March 2020, and the second time was back in July this year shortly after his inauguration as president.
