MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. received his second booster dose on Wednesday as he urged Filipinos to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Marcos was vaccinated during the PinasLakas vaccination campaign in Manila. Department of Health (DOH) officer-in-charge Ma. Rosario Vergeire administered Marcos’ second booster shot.

Both the President and his son received the Pfizer booster shots.

In his speech, Marcos said he attended the event to encourage the public to also take their booster shot, stressing its importance in fighting new COVID-19 variants.

“Lalong lalo na dahan-dahang pabubukas ng ekonomiya, ayaw nating maglockdown, gusto natin matanggal na yung mask na protocol, lahat yan di natin maaabot kung hindi tayo magpa-booster shot ngayon,” Marcos said in his speech at the event.

(We are slowly opening our economy and want to remove the mask protocols. We also do not want to impose lockdowns. But we cannot do all these if we will not take our booster shots.)

“Para maging safe tayo, ay kailangan talaga, we have to encourage everyone to have a booster shot para masasabi nating fully immunized,” the President added.
