Former village chief nabbed over meth, ‘hot’ lumber in Kalinga province

TABUK CITY, Kalinga—A former village chief in Pinukpuk town in this province was arrested on Tuesday, August 16, after allegedly yielding “shabu” (crystal meth), illegally cut logs, and bullets, the police said.

Major Garry Gayamos, Kalinga police spokesperson, said authorities arrested Reynold Gongob, 47, after serving a search warrant at his house in Barangay Wagod.

Seized from Gongob were shabu worth P200,000, assorted bullets, and illegally cut lumber worth P106,408, said the investigators.

Gongob will face illegal drugs, logging, and firearms and explosives charges. INQ
