PH logs 2,633 new COVID-19 cases; active infections down to 36,190
MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 infections decreased to 36,190 on Tuesday, lower than the previous day’s 38,982, after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded only 2,633 new cases.
This brought the country’s total caseload to 3,838,062 nationwide, with 3,740,745 recoveries and 61,127 deaths, based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker on its website.
The new cases are also much lower than the average daily cases recorded from August 8 to August 14 at 4,001 and the recorded number on Monday at 3,484.
It should be noted, however, that these new cases reflected the number of tests conducted on Sunday, which was only at 16,131 — much lower than the usual amount of over 20,000.
Metro Manila continued to have the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 15,685 cases, followed by Calabarzon at 9,972, then Central Luzon at 5,267.
Quezon City, meanwhile, is still at the top of the list of areas with the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 3,423, followed by Cavite, which recorded 3,335, and Laguna at 2,969.
Meanwhile, 21,480 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Monday, reflecting the number of recorded infections on Wednesday.
