LUCENA CITY—Two motorcycle riders died and two others were injured in separate road mishaps on Sunday and Monday in Rizal province.

The Police Regional Office 4-A reported that Roel Alvin Detablan, a member of the Philippine Coast Guard, was negotiating an uphill and curved portion of Ortigas Avenue Extension at Barangay San Roque in Antipolo City at 12:20 a.m. on August 15.

The police said, citing a witness account, that the rider hit the gutter and was thrown off the vehicle before slamming into a concrete post.

The victim was rushed to the Rizal Provincial Hospital but the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.

In Binangonan town, motorcycle driver Ronel Pacho and his back-riders, John Lloyd Reconasa and Maria Fajardo, were traversing at 6:42 a.m. on Sunday the Manila East Road in Barangay Pag-asa when it crashed into a passenger jeepney driven by Edgardo Quebic, who was then maneuvering a U-turn.

The riders suffered injuries, and rescuers brought them to the Margarito Duavit Memorial Hospital, but Pacho died on the way. The jeepney driver was placed in police custody. INQ
