LUCENA CITY — A woman died after a wayward vehicle hit her while she was standing along the side of Quirino highway in Tagkawayan town in Quezon province on Thursday morning (August 11).

Quezon police reported that while Chris Gunay was driving his Mitsubishi L300 van on a section of the highway in Barangay (village) Tabason at 7 a.m., two of its tires exploded.

Gunay lost control of the vehicle and hit Teresita Batin, 62, who was standing on the roadside. The wayward vehicle also crashed into a parked motorcycle.

Batin was seriously injured and died while being taken to Maria L. Eleazar General Hospital.

Gunay, who was found driving without a license, was arrested and is facing criminal charges.
