DepEd: 15.2 million learners enrolled so far for SY 2022-2023

MANILA, Philippines — Some 15.2 million learners have so far enrolled for School Year 2022-2023, the Department of Education (DepEd) said on Thursday.

The total is as of 7 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, said DepEd spokesman Michael Poa who also lauded the high turnout of enrollees so far.

Poa urged parents to enroll their children in school before classes open on August 22.

“Mataas pa rin ang ating turnout. All the same, hinihikayat po natin ang ating mga magulang na i-enroll na kanila ang kanilang mga anak bago pa mag-August 22,” Poa said in a press briefing.

(The turnout is still high. All the same, we are encouraging parents to enroll their children in school before August 22.)

Poa said the August 22 opening of classes will push through as the DepEd continues its coordination with several government agencies and local government units.

The DepEd also convened an inter-agency coordination meeting to “discuss the commitments that these agencies will give the DepEd for the opening of classes.”

“The opening of classes will not be without challenges, that’s pretty much obvious but if we can help each other, tulung tulong po tayo, masisiguro natin ang ligtas na pagbabalik eskwela ng ating mga learners,” Poa said.

(If we help each other, we will ensure the safety of the opening of classes for our learners.)
