LEGAZPI CITY — The Philippine National Police (PNP) Bicol welcomed the separate investigation being conducted by the Commission on Human Rights into the death of Patrolman Jaypee Ramores due to alleged hazing by his senior officers in Masbate.
In a statement on Monday (Aug.1), Brig. Gen. Mario Reyes, Bicol police chief, said their agency would be accessible to help expedite the investigation that could uncover the truth behind the death of Ramores.
Ramores was assigned to the PNP’s 503rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) in Masbate province on July 20.
He had severe bruises, cigarette and candle burns, wounds on his knees and feet, and died in a hospital on July 26.
The Special Investigation Task Group created by the PNP started to collate information based on the affidavits made by the 21 personnel concerned.
The said personnel of the 503rd Maneuver Company were relieved from posts and placed under the restrictive custody of the RMFB 5 at Camp Simeon Ola in Legazpi City, Albay, while the investigation is underway. INQ
