Habagat to bring rain over parts of Luzon, Visayas on Monday

Habagat rains Monday

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon, or “habagat” will continue to bring rain over several parts of Luzon and the Visayas on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

“Inaasahan pa rin natin ang pagpapatuloy ng hanging habagat sa kanlurang bahagi ng Luzon, kaya asahan pa rin natin ang makulimlim na panahon na may kalat kalat na pagulan pagkidlat pagkulog,” said Pagasa weather specialist Daniel James Villamil.

(We can still expect the southwest monsoon to be present in the western part of Luzon. We can  expect cloudy weather with scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms.)

Meanwhile the rest of Luzon, said Villamil, will experience generally fair weather with chances of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

“Dito sa Western at Central Visayas ay inaasahan pa rin natin na iiral itong habagat kaya inaasahan natin itong maulap na kalangitan may mga scattered rain showers at thunderstorms,” said Villamil.

(Here in the Western and Central Visayas we expect expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms brought by the habagat.)

The rest of the Visayas and Luzon, meanwhile, will have generally fair weather with hot temperatures expected at noon, and chances of rain in the afternoon and evening.

No gale warning was raised in any of the country’s coasts, but Villamil warned of moderate to rough sea conditions in the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern part of the country.

The state weather bureau places the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Monday:

Metro Manila: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

Baguio City: 16 to 22 degrees Celsius

Laoag City:  25 to 32 degrees Celsius

Tuguegarao: 24 to 35 degrees Celsius

Legazpi City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 30 degrees Celsius

Tagaytay: 24 to 28 degrees Celsius

Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius

Iloilo City: 25 to 29 degrees Celsius

Cebu: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

Tacloban City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
