PH logs 3,848 new COVID-19 infections; active tally close to 30k
MANILA, Philippines — The number of active COVID-19 cases is now at 29,897, after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 3,848 additional cases on Thursday.
This brought the DOH the country’s total caseload to 3,764,346 nationwide, with 3,673,745 recoveries and 60,704 deaths, based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker on its website.
These new cases were also significantly higher than the number of infections recorded on Wednesday at 2,727, as well as the average daily cases recorded from July 18 to 24 at 2,791.
The National Capital Region also continued to have the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 13,135 cases, followed by Calabarzon at 8,504, then by Central Luzon with another huge gap at 3,923.
Cavite also continued to top the list of areas with the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 2,965, followed by Quezon City which recorded 2,747 and Laguna with 2,173.
Article continues after this advertisementThe tracker also showed that 22,932 individuals were recorded to have been tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday. This will reflect the recorded infections on Friday.
Article continues after this advertisementThe DOH earlier reported that the national COVID-19 positivity rate is now at 14.8 percent, triple the World Health Organization’s ideal threshold.
Meanwhile, to combat the continuous rise of cases, the DOH had also launched a campaign to boost the administration of booster vaccines against COVID-19 to the eligible population to reduce the further spread of the virus.
