MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has called on the Commission on the Elections (Comelec) to fill in the vacancy of the 7th District of Cavite province, which now Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla left.

During Wednesday’s session, the House adopted Resolution No. 100, which certifies the 7th District of Cavite vacancy.

It also calls on the Comelec to fill in the said vacancy.

Majority Leader Manuel Dalipe made the motion, which no member of the House objected to, effectively adopting the resolution.

In the meantime, Speaker Martin Romualdez is the district’s caretaker as designated by the House on Tuesday.

During the 2022 elections, Remulla won his reelection bid as Cavite 7th District’s representative. He, however, accepted President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s offer to head the Department of Justice. His legislative post is now vacant.
