MANILA, Philippines — The process of delisting Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries who are no longer considered “poor” will still take weeks, Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo said Thursday.

Tulfo said beneficiaries who will be delisted will be properly informed so that there will be no surprise when they no longer receive the cash assistance from the government.

“Medyo mahaba-haba pa rin ang process. Aabutin pa ito ng at least —yung process na we have to remove them from the list—ay aabutin pa ng ilang linggo,” Tulfo said during the Laging Handa briefing.

According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development, at least 1.3 million beneficiaries of the program are no longer considered poor.

The review for other beneficiaries who may be removed from the list is still ongoing, said Tulfo.

The Palace earlier said the removal of the 1.3 million non-poor beneficiaries could mean that P15 billion may be freed up “for other qualified persons” who may now be included in the 4Ps.
