Gov declares dengue outbreak in Occidental Mindoro
CITY OF CALAPAN — The governor of Occidental Mindoro province declared an outbreak of mosquito-borne disease dengue on a social media post on Tuesday, July 19.
Gov. Eduardo Gadiano issued Executive Order No. 42 on July 18 which said that “the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit ranks the province with the highest number of dengue cases in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) region with 1,123 cases which is 42.36 percent of the 2,887 regional total.”
The Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit has identified clustering of cases in 41 barangays (villages) and a total of five deaths due to dengue based on the July 10 to 16 monitoring.
“Despite all the preventive measures done by the health sector, this vector-borne disease is continuously increasing,” said Gadiano.
Gadiano directed “all district and provincial hospitals to extend necessary assistance to all patients of dengue fever cases.”
Article continues after this advertisementAll local government units, through the municipal health officers and respective barangays, should implement the courses of actions stated in the province’s memorandum issued on July 16 with subject “Emergency Response Actions for the Increasing Number of Dengue Cases in the province,” Gadiano’s order said.
