Four more lawmakers in the House of Representatives have joined the Lakas-CMD

MANILA, Philippines — Four more lawmakers have joined the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) in the House of Representatives, bolstering the political party’s ranks in the lower chamber.

Lakas-CMD president and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez said in a statement Tuesday that Davao City 2nd District Rep. Vincent Garcia, Davao City 3rd District Rep. Isidro Ungab, Davao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Alan Dujali, and Camarines Norte 1st District Rep. Josefina Tallado have become new members of the party.

This increased Lakas-CMD’s membership in the House of Representatives to 64.

The Lakas-CMD supported the candidacies of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte in the 2022 national elections.

“We await with great expectations opportunities for engaging and bonding with them and the rest of our membership. We hope they will have an enjoyable and fruitful engagement with us,” said Romualdez, a cousin of Marcos Jr.

“[Lakas-CMD] will 100 percent support the legislative and unity agenda of President Bongbong Marcos Jr.,” he added.

Romualdez said the four representatives and Maguindanao Rep. Dimple Mastura, who earlier joined the party, formalized their membership by taking their oath during a simple ceremony in Manila.

Duterte, also Lakas-CMD’s co-chairperson, witnessed the oath-taking of the new members.

During the same event, politicians and elected officials from Surigao del Norte province who previously joined Lakas-CMD were also sworn in by Romualdez. They are:
