SPD nabs eight suspects, confiscates P316,000 worth of shabu, marijuana

MANILA, Philippines — Members of the Southern Police District (SPD) have arrested eight people and seized P316,772 worth of illegal drugs in separate operations in the cities of Taguig, Parañaque, and Muntinlupa.

The SPD said its operatives carried out anti-criminality campaigns on Monday and Tuesday that led to the arrest of the suspects and confiscation of illegal drugs.

Taguig City Police’s Sub-Station 10 personnel conducted an operation on Tuesday morning along Banai in Barangay Lower Bicutan where three suspects identified as Teody Carandang Valdez, 37; Aileen Alano Republica, 38; and Rodel Paghubasan Mendez, 29, were collared, the SPD noted.

Three heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected crystal meth, locally known as “shabu”, were confiscated by police in this operation. The confiscated shabu weighs around 11 grams and has an estimated value of P75,616.

Also in Taguig City, the local police’s Sub-Station 3 personnel collared on Monday evening two suspects identified as Jonathan Biso Pe Binito, 32, and Tracy Anne Bersuela Cunahap, 20, along Lansones Street in Panam Village, Barangay Pinagsama.

In this operation, police seized from the suspects two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu. Police said the confiscated illegal drug weighs around 9 grams and has an estimated value of P62,240.

Likewise on Monday evening, the Muntinlupa City Police’s Tunasan Sub-Station accosted Eric Ace Ramos Catalan, 26, for not wearing a helmet.

Upon a mandatory search, however, law enforcers recovered from Ramos suspected marijuana with an approximate weight of 800 grams. Authorities said the illegal drug could cost around P96,000.

The suspect’s motorcycle, which has no license plate, was also confiscated by the police.

Meanwhile, the SPD said the Parañaque City Police carried out a buy-bust operation on Monday afternoon that resulted in the arrest of two suspects who were identified as Arturo Plana Amboy, 58, and Johnny Matiog Lopez, 38.

Police said the suspects yielded five small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu which has an estimated weight of 12 grams. The seized shabu, according to authorities, has an approximate value of P82,916.
