Number of new vote registrants close to 1M — Comelec

MANILA, Philippines — The number of new voters registered with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as of July 12 is now at 909,687.

This is based on a data bulletin sent to reporters by Comelec spokesperson Rex Laudiangco, which showed that of the 909,687 new registrants, 571,740 belong to the 15 to 17 years old bracket, while 289,206 new voters are aged 18 to 30 years old.

There were also 48,741 new registrants aged 31 years old and above.

The total number of applications processed as of July 12 totaled 1,209,597. This included applications for transfer of voter registration, transfer from overseas voting to local voting, as well as reactivation.

Voter’s registration began last July 4 and is set only until July 23. Voters may register Mondays to Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The registration comes as the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections are set on December 5, 2022.

The Comelec urged the public to register as early as possible and avoid waiting until the last minute.
