MANILA, Philippines — Las Piñas City’s top seven most wanted person who is facing car theft charges was arrested by police in Biñan, Laguna, the Southern Police District (SPD) said on Tuesday.
SPD director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macareg said that suspect Jacques Acuña, a 41 year old businessman, was arrested in an operation conducted at Biñan’s Barangay San Antonio on Monday afternoon.
Macaraeg said that an arrest order was issued by Judge Harold Cesar Huliganga of the Regional Trial Court Branch 254 in Las Piñas against Acuña, for violation of Republic Act No. 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
The arrest order was served by the Las Piñas City Police Station’s Warrant and Subpoena Section and Intelligence Section.
The SPD chief relayed that according to the case which was docketed last February 10, a bail of P300,000 was recommended. With the arrest of the suspect, Macaraeg said they will forward a letter to the court about the incident. —with reports from Andy Hoo, INQUIRER.net trainee
