MANILA, Philippines — Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Monday lauded the appointment of Raphael Lotilla as the chief of the Department of Energy (DOE) under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

“He is a good choice and I am confident that he will be able to cascade the benefits of the energy sector to all Filipinos – cheap electricity rates, stable power supply, and a clean future,” said Gatchalian in a statement.

Lotilla is not a stranger to leading the DOE, as he previously served as energy chief during the Macapagal-Arroyo administration from 2005-2007.

He also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM) and as Deputy Director-General of the National Economic Development Authority.
