MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is now “on his way to a complete recovery” after testing positive for COVID-19 last Friday, his lead physician said Monday.
According to a health bulletin released by the Palace, Marcos is still under home isolation. However, he does not have fever and body malaise, citing a report from Dr. Samuel Zacate, Marcos’ lead physician.
“His cough disappeared but still with very mild nasal stuffiness and nasal itchiness, therefore additional medication was given to address his concern and all other medicines were advised to be continued,” Zacate said.
“On examination, his vital signs were all within normal limits and exemplary. He doesn’t experience any additional signs and symptoms. His throat still has no noticeable inflammation and no signs of respiratory compromise,” he added.
“This fast recovery is expected from a fully vaccinated individual with a good health status, and a history of great resilience against all adversities just like our President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,” Zacate said.
Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles announced on July 8 that Marcos tested positive for COVID-19.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire also said that Marcos would be in isolation for seven days from when he tested positive.
Marcos is set to lead the second Cabinet meeting on Tuesday via teleconferencing.
