Cebu City anti-drug operations: 4 arrested, P1.65 million ‘shabu’ seized

MANILA, Philippines — Four people have been arrested while at least P1.65 million worth of suspected crystal meth, locally known as “shabu,” have been confiscated in two separate anti-drug operations in Cebu City.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said a high-value drug suspect named Japper Jake Jayme was collared in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Roque on Saturday, July 9, and that P380,000 worth of shabu was also seized from him.

Another buy-bust operation was conducted inside Ludo Cemetery also in Cebu on Sunday, July 10, that led to the arrest of three more suspects namely, Jufel Para, Rochell Son, and Clifford Gadiano, the PNP likewise said.

Citing local police, the PNP said P1.273 million worth of shabu were confiscated from the suspects and that Para is part of a list of the region-wide high-value target.

All arrested suspects are set to face charges for violating provisions of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said. — With reports from Nicole Faye Agcaoili, trainee
