MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Tuesday announced that it has officially commenced the construction of the Taguig City Science Terminal and Exhibit Center, making it the first of its kind in the country.

The five-storey building is located at a 13,680 square meter area at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Compound in Bicutan, Taguig and is set to be completed mid-2023, according to DPWH National Capital Regional (NCR) Director Nomer Abel Canlas in a statement.

Canlas explained that the project was first conceptualized as an integrated terminal meant to address traffic congestion, before an exhibit center was later added to the plan.

The building’s first three floors will be dedicated to the public transportation hub while the upper two levels are the executive offices and the Science and Technology Exhibit Center.

“The science terminal is aimed to spark interest to the commuting public, especially to students, to pursue an education and career in science,” Canlas said.

A total of P326 million was allotted for the construction of the said building, which is a collaborative project between the DPWH, DOST, and the local government of Taguig City.
